INNSBRUCK AIRPORT - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.
Let's not fool anyone, Innsbruck airport also known as Kranebitten airport is not the biggest airport in Austria, but its location located 2.5 miles or 4 km from Innsbruck centre makes it a perfect choice for skiers travelling to the Tyrol region.
Its peak periods are obviously the winter months where the airport can get very busy and can get overcrowded at times, at check-in but also on arrival.
The airport has only one runway, 12 gates and limited baggage carousels for baggage reclaim.
With plenty of ATMs located around Innsbruck airport, be aware that there are fees if using this facility.
While waiting for your departure you are limited the number of bars and shops airside but does include a small duty-free.
One other thing to be aware of is the limited seating around the departure lounge, with more than 3 flights departing it is a case of spot the spare seat.
It can suffer at times with bad weather conditions in the winter months so please check the forecasts and be prepared!
It's not all bad at Innsbruck airport, it does function well and it does what it says on the tin.
