THESSALONIKI AIRPORT (MACEDONIA)
Your ultimate guide.
The airport is in a massive upgrade process at the moment and when finished will be a worthy airport for the area,
Still, plenty of construction works going on upgrading the terminal building but what we can see so far, it's going to be a great airport. Thessaloniki airport is modern in appearance with plenty of steelwork structures and large open spaces.
Moving through the airport is very easy, from checking to security and to the departure lounge.
Nice to have WiFi but we didn't see many charging points, toilets were spotless and still very new looking.
Eateries are very limited at the moment so be aware.
Check-in was very good, its a large area with a high steel roof structure and was not as stuffy temperature wise which surprised us :)
Through to security was easy, very friendly staff but we found that all over Greece that the Greek people were all lovely.
Again like many other Greece airports, to get to your aircraft there are no airbridges, so you will be transported by bus, but there are plenty of them.
Getting through customs was very easy and baggage reclaim seemed very fast so again we were quite impressed.
A soon as you have collected all your luggage, simply locate the exit where you will find your driver waiting for you.
If for any reason your luggage is delayed, your driver will wait for you so don't worry
If we had to give Thessaloniki airport a rating out of five we would probably give it 3.5 at the moment only because it is still a works in progress, however, it does seem to run very well with what it has.
